Text Messaging Enhancements to Increase Client Engagement
Increasing client engagement is crucial to improving show rates and responsiveness – ultimately changing behavior to improve outcomes. And since clients already rely on their phones to manage their lives, Averhealth is pleased to introduce enhanced SMS text messaging.
Soon, your clients can respond to their scheduled testing reminders throughout the day so your program can better track client engagement. Through daily engagement, whether your client calls into the notification line, visits our website, or enrolls in text messaging, we’ve learned over the years that it can help to reduce the positive rate in your community.
Check out this brief video to learn how these enhancements can help your clients remain on the road to recovery.
Thriving as a Team
Averhealth’s national management team recently gathered in St. Louis for the first time in two years for training and educational workshops. It was a chance to meet new faces and invest in our employees so we can better serve our customers, collaborate on new ideas, and understand industry and management trends.

One highlight was a keynote presentation from Dr. Jermaine Davis, who energized us about Thriving as a Team. In this issue, you’ll find a guest blog he wrote to help inspire your organization.
We also learned about Real Colors in an interactive workshop on personality temperaments to improve how teams can work more effectively together. We will continue to expand on "Real Colors, Real Teams;" and "Real Colors, Real Leadership" in future management meetings.
Inside Our Lab
We also toured the Averhealth laboratory, where specimens arrive daily for processing, testing, and reporting. From new equipment to industry-leading protocols, it’s a fascinating look at how Averhealth meets our customers’ needs for solutions for substance use disorder monitoring and treatment.
Our lab is capable of testing for over 1,500 substances and is one of only 30 in the U.S. with rigorous CAP-FDT certification.
Guest Blog: Dr. Jermaine Davis
Dr. Jermaine Daviswowed us at our meeting with his management insights to help us thrive as a team. He has spoken to groups in our industry, so we asked him to write a guest blog for our readers about how to recognize, acknowledge and praise teams on the front lines. This is especially helpful for teams challenged with heavy caseloads, staffing shortages, and continued high ratesof substance use.Get inspired by his advice.
Maricopa County Launches Veterans Program
The Maricopa County (AZ) Attorney’s Office haslaunched a pre-trial diversion program designed specifically for veterans. The Veterans’ Diversion Program will provide evidence-based services and treatment to eligible veterans prior to conviction.
It’s geared toward veterans who struggle to return to civilian life or encounter military-related trauma, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), treatment and services may be out of reach. This can lead to issues with domestic violence, drug and alcohol abuse, or, in some cases, mental health disorders and suicide.
The Veterans’ Diversion Program is operated in coordination with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs with support from Averhealth and EMPACT.
“I salute the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office Veterans’ Diversion Program for implementing a pre-trial diversion program providing veterans with the treatment and services needed as they work through the unique challenges they often face with criminal conduct, substance use disorder, mental health issues as well as unemployment and housing,” said Ret. U.S. Army Gen. Barry McCaffrey, former director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy and Averhealth board member.
“The fact that their criminal charges are suspended during the program, and, if they are successful, their felony charge is dismissed, is a much-needed solution for our veterans as one door closes and a new door opens for them. I am pleased that Averhealth is in partnership with MCAO for this worthwhile opportunity so Veterans can lead a successful life beyond the issues they face when they return home.”
Make plans to see Team Averhealth at these upcoming state conferences:
Washington State Misdemeanant Probation Association, May 2-4 at the Heathman Lodge in Vancouver.
Michigan Association of District Court Probation Officers, May 25-27 at Crystal Mountain Resort in Thompsonville.
