The Importance of Lab-Based Testing for Accuracy and Reliability
Evidence-based drug testing practices serve a critical role in helping people to navigate the intersection of criminal justice programs and healthcare. Many courts and probation departments understand the crucial importance of random testing but choosing a substance use monitoring partner that has a reliable process and the best testing technology is just as important. Averhealth’s laboratory testing gives you the confidence and intelligence you need to ensure clients are staying on the path to recovery. [Learn More]
Webinar: Beyond Alcohol — The Challenges of Supervising the Drug Impaired Driver
Presented by: Mark Stodola
In 2016, 43% of fatally injured drivers from impaired driving crashes had a known test result that was positive for both drugs and alcohol. Studies have shown that as many as 40% of individuals arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol may in fact have a number of illegal drugs in their system that went undetected. The growing number of states that have legalized recreational marijuana and the increased abuse of prescription drugs have created an increased threat to our roadways. This presentation will provide the audience up to date information on the scope of our drug impaired driving problem as well as evidence-based sentencing, supervision and drug testing strategies to address these behaviors.
Learning Objectives
Participants will identify drug impaired driving trends and their challenges
Participants will identify available countermeasures to increase accountability in the management of convicted drug impaired drivers
Participants will identify drug and alcohol testing strategies to reduce the possibility of re-offense by drug impaired drivers

Treating Substance Use Disorders and PTSD
Research suggests that approximately 72 percent of women and 57 percent of men experience another mental health problem in addition to their substance use disorder. Data shows that for women, major depression is often primary to the substance use disorder. Interestingly, this is the opposite finding compared to men, where depression is often a result of the primary substance use disorder diagnosis (Zilberman, Tavares, Blume, & el-Guebaly, 2003).
